Evidence Based Physical Therapy
Why Evidenced Based?
Evidence based medicine is the conscientious, judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about individual patients. The top healthcare professionals use both individual clinical expertise and the best available research to make treatment decisions. Unfortunately, too many healthcare providers continue to implement treatments that are based on ritual or outdated guidelines. With rising costs and limited access to healthcare for many consumers, the old argument "that is how we have always done it" no longer holds weight. Patients should question their healthcare providers about the available evidence for the treatments they are receiving. This includes the services provided by your physical therapist.
Tracking Patient Outcomes:
Since 2008 BSR Physical Therapy has systematically tracked patient outcomes based on validated and responsive self-report functional outcome measures. This information is tracked for every patient managed at our clinics and is used for quality improvement purposes. We hope that other physical therapy clinics will do the same and show their commitment to evidence based practice.
